where
it all started !
I
first became interested in Astrology after being dragged to an evening
talk by my inquisitive mother who was concerned to take my mind off
an imminent divorce!
I
was intrigued and took up a course which later resulted in my Diploma
in Astrology.
For
a long period Astrology was just a paying hobby and an interest for
study.
Then
I met Spooky (aka: Simon Kershaw), a former graphic designer and illustrator
who having ended a technology business and a relationship (classic Saturn
return at age 29 !) had become interested in Astrology through "seeking
hope" in daily Sun Signs and a chance meeting with the late Patrick
Walker a leading Astrologer at the time.
In
a fairy tale story Simon was advised to see a very good tarot card reader
called Ann, who on hearing Simons growing interest in Astrology suggested
that he meet me (an existing client) to learn more about Astrology with
the words "you two will get on very well"!

No
kidding, within a short time we were living and plotting together and
I got a bit of a push (and a lot of help) making Astrology much more
of a career.
Simon
(Aquarius), went on to become a Senior Producer with a computer games
company called Digital Image Design, (where the originally derogatory
nickname Spooky Kershaw was acquired after he turned up one day with
Annabel Burton Astrology painted across his car after FBI agent Mulder
in the TV series the X-files and Simons initials!
I
saw clients personally here and there in between lots of other jobs
(Gemini, what can you expect).
When
the Computer Games company split up through board room politics Simon
left the industry and used his time to teach himself the basics of web
site production.
After
buying a home computer and seeing the internet for the first time the
first web site Astrology UK was started with two visitors a week in
February 2000. I had a platform to talk about Astrology with other like
minded individuals.
By
Christmas while Simon was working as a Project Manager with Pan European
Internet Service Provider: World Online it was becoming obvious that
waiting for cheques in the post for online orders needed to improve
just a bit in order to service 800 visitors a day!
Over
the Christmas period a new web design and e-commerce facilities (secure
online credit card payment), were not only learned about from scratch
but largely implemented! In March 2001 a new look astrology-uk.net was
launched PLUS horoscope-uk.net and annabelburton.com.
In
late 2001 sun-signs.co.uk and star-sign.com were added,each site caters
for a different level of interest and knowledge. They were developed
with search engines and ease of navigation for visitors in mind rather
than fancy graphics.
Originally
Astrology UK was intended to reach people a little further away than
the Cheshire area of England that I was seeing people personally. Now
astrology-uk.net alone is visited from 140+ countries with online orders
from Japan, Hawaii, and just round the corner! the other sites have
a similar following.
Through
Astrology I have been able to help people in need of guidance worldwide,
indulge my interest in a satisfying career and earn a living while doing
it.
If
all of this sounds easy, let me tell you that when you learn an ancient
discipline and many aspects of a very new technology combine and apply
them together as a commercial success, where nearly everything has been
self taught and home produced, a very great deal of unpaid work was
done!
While friends and family were out socialising a home computer and a
couple of laptops built a professional operation that I am proud of
... and I know from your feedback we got a few things right.

Sun
Signs, Star Signs & Horoscopes
Sun
Signs and Star Signs as popularly published are really Horoscope texts
and are a very simple form of an Astrologers work. You may be typical
of your Sun sign but the full flavour of your traits, characteristics
and trends is dependent on much more, and this is very unique to each
individual or event.
A
Sun Sign and a Star Sign are the same thing and have little to do with
the stars, except for our star the Sun and the star constellations which
make up the Zodiac. It is the position of all the Solar System planets
and our Sun in relation to the Earth and the Zodiac which is important.
A
Horoscope is the name given to the Birth Chart drawn up by an Astrologer
and is a representation of the moment of your birth, a place or specific
event. This Chart is interpreted by an Astrologer to deliver a Forecast,
Character Analysis, Life Analysis or a Compatibility Analysis, (by comparing
with another Chart).
Often
the word Horoscope is understood to mean the text interpretation of
a Birth Chart. You will be most familiar with this written Horoscope,
or "Your Stars" as found in countless newspapers, magazine
and web sites around the world. Usually
these Horoscopes only take into account the position of the Sun within
a Birth Chart.
When
done properly a Horoscope Chart shows the positions of all the planets
in our Solar System (including the Sun and the Moon) and their relative
position in the Zodiac. The Zodiac is the "wheel" which portrays the
12 Astronomical star constellations which are the 12 Astrological signs
in sequence.
A
Professional Astrologer takes into account the effect of the planets,
their interpretation and their myriad interactions to determine the
characteristics and "path" of an individual, place or an event and to
deliver a full personal and very accurate Consultation.
